All for a great family our children grew up with right next door was an absolute honour. Spatial, colour, texture and feeling was our brief. Kitchen, Bathrooms and overall vibe. MAN CAVE | SITE SNAPS & SNAGS

Last year we had the pleasure of working with Pip and Len at their property east of Auckland. The brief was to create a warm multifunctional space surrounding the under house existing footings of a 1940s original.

We detailed a comprehensive bar and entertaining prep kitchen, pool table, guest suite, large television and a sound system. The bathroom was to be hotel-like (Spot the Silicon Snag that got axed swiftly) Len, an exceptional stone craftsman, wanted stone on every surface. Perfect for this project was @italianstoneltd ‘s Arabescato Orobico Rosso. Marble counters, bench seats and consoles brought warmth and character. Jura Limestone tiles, both hammered and polished, created a stagger lay check and walnut cabinetry softened and warmed the space. All of these elements coupled with Pips great heirloom pieces complemented the original grand old home perched magnificently on the cliff.
This secret lil Man Cave will see a ton of fun for the next 70 years, no doubt.

JKW | TEAM - AI Generation - We’re gingerly embracing AI, but our latest studio photo experiment went hilariously wrong.
Our clever assistant, Nicole (left), tried using AI to swap our wonderful Eva (on parental leave!) with our lovely new spatial designer, Holland (second left). Sitting next to them are Janice (director) and Meg (senior designer, right).
Instead of a clean swap, the AI wand homogenized everyone’s faces. Thanks to Janice’s multi-cultural complexion, we all ended up looking bizarrely related.
While AI is daunting, weird, and environmentally heavy—devouring massive amounts of electricity and cooling water—one thing is certain: that incestuous-looking shot will never make it to the grid!
