Bankside Chambers wanted to redesign their reception area to enhance the entry point for all visitors to the Chambers and visually connect it with the recently refurbished lounge and boardroom. The redesign needed to accommodate more services for their receptionists to ensure the reception is not left for long periods.

We designed a simple cohesive approach from entering the lift lobby to reception and onto the boardroom spaces. The existing tile runway was dated and tired and didn’t align with the front desk scenario even with the repurpose.

Our design includes Natural Light Oak herringbone, playing well with the check carpet in the quieter spaces, making way for rugs that add interest.  Light timber ultimately gave us a subtle connection to downstairs.

Down stairs is definitely different – it certainly has a more utilitarian approach – there are subtle nods to it through colour and material – and the spine like wall feature is translated into battens on the wall, the interest in the desk and the darker timbers mixing with the light – we really didn’t want it to look the same – but feel connected.

We took a less literal approach to the design upstairs – complementing finishes and colours while not emulating!
